Liberty Fur All

Be thankful. Be Loving.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Gearz and I am an alcoho-… wait… no… wrong speech, sorry! I’m Gearz and I am one of the new writers for LFA… HI!

Hopefully as you read this, you are surrounded by your loved ones, basking in a Turkey induced coma.

I wanted to take a moment today to talk to you all about “Love”…

There was a time, not too long ago, when the furry fandom was the benchmark of acceptance, kindness and love. That time seems like it might have passed us on occasion, but I beg to differ.

I still have friends that I would say without doubt:

“If you had a gun pointed at my head, I would trust you to pull the trigger knowing that the chamber was empty.”

That kind of freindship cannot be bought, borrowed or stolen.

But the Fandom has developed more than its fair share of “problems” since then.

I have sat idly by as people I regard as friends be: Doxxed, punished and in some cases, even fired, over their individual beliefs.

Something is wrong. I have seen everyone from Con-Chairs to “Popu-Furs” to average folk just trying to get through their days abe attacked by the “Twitter outrage mob” within our own fandom.

Some used to make light of 4-Chan for their “Weaponized Autism” but we never took the time to make sure it wasn’t turned on us. Well, it has been, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves…

That sick feeling you have in your gut??? That is your conscience… you should try listening to it on occasion.

As I write this, it is Thanksgiving Day. Across the nation, families are breaking bread and giving thanks for what they have.

You can express (or keep to yourself) what you are thankful for. Me, personally, I am thankful for my family and for my friends who have supported me in good times and in bad. I am thankful for
those whom have loved me and those whom I have loved.

“Love is more powerful than anything else… It breaks all rules and laws and overpowers any army or government.”
-Lorelai: “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”

By the way:  Most of my posts will not be this “Preachy” but today is a “Special Day” and I have hung my usual sarcasm up, along with grandma’s coat in the closet.

Happy Turkey Day!

-Gearz (Thanksgiving 2017)
